As we know, life on the road is difficult for the truck driver. Hard hours, a sedentary lifestyle and a host of unhealthy temptations at truck stops are some of the causes of the high rate of obesity, hypertension and related co-morbidities such as sleep apnea and cardiovascular disease in drivers. Like anything else in life, with a little effort and determination one can always find a better way to develop healthier habits. Many entrepreneurs are taking heed and offering healthier food on the road, and building gyms at truck stops. What’s next? Yoga on the road and organic buffets? Hey, it might already exist somewhere and why not! Let’s face it, the problem of obesity, and sedentary lifestyle is not just a problem of truckers but of this entire nation.
